The Global Impact Investing Network is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to increasing the scale and effectiveness of impact investing. Impact investments are investments made into companies, organizations, and funds with the intention to generate measurable social and environmental impact alongside a financial return. They can be made in both emerging and developed markets, and target a range of returns from below market to market rate, depending upon the circumstances. The GIIN addresses systemic barriers to effective impact investing by building critical infrastructure and developing activities, education, and research that attract more investment capital to address global challenges.
The GIIN currently has five program areas that are designed to address the critical needs of the emerging impact investing industry.
1. Network membership is for organizations interested in deepening their engagement with the impact investing industry. Members of the GIIN are connected to a thriving peer community and gain formal access to industry information, tools, and resources.
2. The Investors’ Council is an invitation-only leadership group for active large-scale impact investors. It provides a forum for experienced impact investors to strengthen the practice of impact investing and accelerate learning about new areas in the field.
3. The Impact Reporting and Investment Standards (IRIS) is a set of metrics with standard definitions that provide a consistent method for describing an organization’s social, environmental, and financial performance.
4. ImpactBase is the online global directory of impact investment vehicles that reduces search costs for investors and fund managers.
5. The Outreach Initiative elevates the profile of impact investing by highlighting exemplary impact investments, industry progress, and best practices. The GIIN also conducts and disseminates research, informs conference and event programming, and promotes mainstream media coverage of impact investments.
The Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) is looking to hire an Operations Associate to support the efforts of this fast paced, growing organization. The Operations Associate will report to the CEO.
Responsibilities will include the following:
• Serve as greeter for office visitors
• Help plan and support logistics for office and program events and activities
• Prepare and control the master events calendar to ensure consistency and appropriate timing of events, meetings, and vacation schedules
• Track employee time off and report quarterly
• Maintain contacts of senior managers in relationship management database
• Manage purchasing of equipment, supplies and services and maintain vendor contracts
• Support new employee recruiting, hiring, and on-boarding activities in coordination with sponsors and partners
• Maintain and update administrative and personnel handbooks
• Conduct staff training on office systems
• Act as liaison between the GIIN and building management
• Manage scheduling and complex (often international) travel arrangements
• Receive, screen, manage and route phone calls and correspondence
• Compile and submit expense reimbursements for team members
• Maintain office tidiness, such as plant care, clean up after meetings and supervising pantry clean up.
• Reserve space and coordinate catering for meetings
• Research venues, often Internationally, for convening’s and dinners
• Source and order promotional items
The Operations Associate must be an empathic, resourceful, and highly responsible individual with a high degree of professionalism, and a flexible and collaborative spirit. The ideal candidate would have experience in a support role within a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience providing direct administrative support to executives
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Comprehensive knowledge of computer software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Responsible, even-tempered, and extremely detail-oriented, with high standards of performance
• Personable, engaging presence, with diplomacy, tact and good humor
• Interest in social and environmental issues preferred, but not required
• Willingness to take initiative to solve problems and keep office on track
