Operations Control Center (OCC) Supervisor Scope of Position

The OCC Supervisor will provide efficient

supervision of the OCC. He/she will create reports, maintain records, and report operational status to the OCC Manager. The OCC Supervisor handles personnel issues for the OCC team, excluding hiring and termination; although the Supervisor will participate in situations involving both hiring and termination. The OCC Supervisor, when necessary, will perform the job duties of the Operations Technician.

Working Conditions

Normal office environment where 90% of the

time is spent in the office, working at a desk/workstation and 10% of the time traveling to offsite meetings as needed. Initially, as the OCC is transitioning from Chandler, MN to San Diego, CA, the OCC Supervisor, for training purposes, will be expected to travel to Chandler, MN for several days at a time.

Responsibilities

Ensure a safe working environment at all times.
·
Provide personnel supervision within the dynamics of the OCC’s 24/7/365 multi-shift work environment.
·
Schedule 24/7 OCC coverage with multi-person crew shifts.
·
Working with the HR department, responsible for performance reviews, interviewing, and disciplining of Operations Technicians.
·
Responsible for providing the OCC Manager and/or Director detailed information (both verbal and written) regarding individual personnel’s actions, when discipline and/or discharge is being considered.
·
Establishes individual guidelines required for monitoring multiple projects while complying with each projects contract.
·
Down train all required guidelines and verify that these guidelines are followed.
·
Proficiently operates computers and specific SCADA systems from various renewable energy technologies from multiple manufacturers.
·
Must be able to become proficient at remotely troubleshooting renewable energy systems ( turbines / inverters / substations / networks / communication equipment ).
·
Ensure regulatory compliance with all interconnected utilities and off-takers.
·
Support, and perform if trained and certified, the safe operation of all balance-of-plant activities, including substation clearances and switching as required.
·
Directs staff in monitoring and identifying performance issues to maximize plant productivity.
·
Perform duties of Operations Technician - monitors turbines, resets turbines when possible, and notifies appropriate personnel when required according to the established guidelines.
·
Will be on-call for emergency situations at OCC and must be willing to work other shifts as required.
·
Maintain records of OCC operation and personnel status.
·
Review and correct paperwork originating from the OCC department.
·
Assure all procedures, policies, and personnel are working together to provide service to OCC customers.
·
All other duties as assigned by the OCC Manager or his/her designee.
Qualifications
·
Five years of supervisory experience preferred, with emphasis on 24/7 shift work (call center environment).
·
Associate’s degree in science or business curriculum, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business / military experience preferred.
·
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
·
Must show ability to multi-task.
·
Must demonstrate excellent computer and networking skills.
·
High level of expertise with Microsoft Office Suite.
·
Must be familiar with industrial communications and SCADA equipment.
·
Understanding or experience with NERC, FERC and system operator requirements with capability to learn and pass necessary certification exams if/when required.
