Operations Engineers typically spend their first two to three years within Chevron Global Power (CGP), performing the functions described above developing technical skills and familiarity with power turbine-generator facilities. Operations Engineers may pursue a wide range of career paths within CGP as technical service power solutions engineers supporting domestic US and international Chevron power facilities, as staff engineers for large capital projects, or as project developers. In addition, Operations engineers can pursue a broad spectrum of opportunities across various Chevron businesses: Upstream, Downstream, Global Gas, Technology and Services Companies.

Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Operations Engineer located in Bakersfield, CA through April 30, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Providing technical direction, project design expertise, project management, and economic analysis for maintenance activities, production, equipment modifications and upgrades, and performance improvements for Chevron’s power generating facilities.
Evaluating and monitoring unit performance characteristics to ensure equipment is operating at maximum efficiency.
Providing technical expertise on all power turbine, compressor, auxiliary skid, HRSG, and mechanical systems.
Interfacing with regulatory agencies learning contracts such as Power Purchase Agreements and Steam Sales Contracts to support business needs.
Assisting with preparation of budgets, cost forecasts, and project economic analysis.
Working closely with CGP commercial personnel to explain financial results and to develop annual strategic updates and business plans and disseminate detailed business performance management reports to the CGP Leadership Team.
Applying lessons learned from other work groups and organizations.
Providing mechanical/turbine engineering assistance to the operations and maintenance personnel.
Assisting in the oversight and technical support for equipment overhauls & modifications, and new plant construction.
Mechanical Engineering degree or similar (Marine Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, etc.)
A minimum of 2 years of related experience.
Engineering and/or O&M experience on gas and steam turbine based power generation equipment.
General understanding of Power Generation Plants from a design and/or operating perspective.
Required experience supporting conceptual design of Power Generation Plants and working knowledge of tools and processes associated with project development.
Experience utilizing engineering and operating data such as thermodynamic performance, vibration data, reliability data to develop solutions and improvements within Power Generation facilities.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work individually or in a group setting.
Must be able to work effectively on a multidiscipline team.
Power Generation Engineering Experience supporting Operational Facilities with performance monitoring and improvement, maintenance planning and technical direction.
Working engineering knowledge of Gas Turbine driven equipment and associated BOP equipment.
Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters. *LI-CB1
