The Dow Chemical Company has an opening for an Operations Leader at its Deer Park, TX site.

The Operations Leader Role exists to provide leadership and technical support for the Utilities/Waste Treatment operations personnel within Dow Deer Park Operations. This is a leadership role which includes administrative responsibilities for ~30 direct reports. The Utilities / Waste Treatment team manages all the Energy Systems and Environmental Operations aligned assets at the Deer Park site, which aligns to both the Energy and Performance Monomers businesses.

This is a unique opportunity to interface with 3 different businesses and be involved with a major reinvestment in the department and site assets in the next 3-5 years.

In this role, the Operations Leader works within the Operate Plant organization and provides leadership and direction to all the operations employees to achieve EH&S, reliability, and costs objectives. Within this role the Operations Leader works with team to improve and sustain the work processes and EH&S standards to transform the organization to best in class.

The Operations Leader will be responsible for the development and setting performance expectations for all operations personnel and providing coaching and feedback (positive and constructive) to plant personnel.

Example Goals/Competencies:
·

Drive to Zero: Provide leadership and field visibility to improve and sustain our performance to 0 injuries, 0 LOPC, 0 Process safety incidents, 0 MVA, 0 Reactive Chemical and 0 compliance violations.

·

Leads and/or ensures investigations are completed in a timely manner when trigger criteria are met for EH&S and/or reliability.

·

Maintain compliance within all permits

·

Assist in the development and management of facility assessment, asset strategies, capital plan, budgets, etc.

·

Assist in the development and ensure implementation of the MI plan for the Utilities/Waste Treatment Operations.

·

Improve reliability of the assets through reduced equipment failure, unplanned events, turnaround losses and improved operating discipline.

·

Ensure that there is continuous improvement in Empowerment, Work Processes and ODMS.

·

Coaches plant personnel on measurement tools and daily updates of performance metrics (i.e. availability, conversion cost, yield, etc.).

·

Serve as the plant's focal point for process safety including RC/PHA, LOPA, etc.

Qualifications

Education/Certification Requirements & Assets:
·

Bachelor's of Science in Engineering is required. Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (BS/MS) preferred.

·

Black Belt or Green Belt Project Leader certification would be an asset.

·

Incumbent should currently have Operations Leader and/or Production Leader as part of EDP.

·

Five years or more manufacturing experience required.

Three years of Dow experience is preferred.

·

Must have knowledge of Empowerment, Operate Plant Work Process, ODMS, and Maintenance Work Processes to ensure department success.

·

Requires excellent leadership, communication, planning and organizational skills.

·

Candidate must have demonstrated the ability to effectively lead change by motivating and coaching empowered teams to achieve goals and objectives.

·

Must have the ability to work with diverse work groups and business.

·

Must have a bias for action to achieve results.

·

The ability to effectively influence partners and stakeholders will be essential to the incumbent's success.

·

Incumbent will be required to be on-call for the department at various times throughout the year.

·

Incumbent will serve as the Production Leader backup as schedules warrant including EOC cubicle rep.

·

Flexible work schedule is available as demands allow. Travel requirements are low.
