We are looking for technology leadership in the Marchex technical operations team. In this role you will provide visible leadership for all of technical operations and externally to the technology community.

You will partner with the Senior Director of Engineering to establish technical standards and ensure adherence to them for all of technical operations and infrastructure. About the Role:
You will be responsible for growing the technical operations vision, organization and processes as a whole. You will need to be willing to roll up your sleeves and assist in getting operational work completed. You will need a strong ability to work with the engineering and product teams to create an agile, collaborative, and lean startup organization. You will mentor direct reports on problem management and product architecture for a complex, 7x24x365 set of online systems with numerous products, services, and scale.

In addition, you will be responsible for establishing long term plans for technology with an eye towards promoting efficient scaling while controlling costs, assist with prioritization and resource allocation.

Role Responsibilities:
Contribute to Marchex business vision through collaboration between Technical Operations and the Product Engineering teams on all current and future projects.

Lead and manage a team of technology specialists to provide a high level of support and customer service for the entire Marchex production and corporate infrastructure.

Responsible for establishing long term plans for technology with an eye towards promoting efficient scaling while controlling costs, assist with prioritization and resource allocation. In particular, evaluate collocation versus cloud hosting options.

Manage, coach and mentor one or more direct reports and establish operational priorities for the group as a whole.

Recruit and hire for the future using a Bar Raising strategy, always improving the culture and the company.

Coach, mentor and oversee the leadership and individual contributors of the technical operations teams. Build and track capital and expense budgets for all IT spending.

Establish and maintain aggressive SLA’s for supporting Marchex production and end-user applications.

Establish standards and configurations for all Marchex technology including networks (LAN/WAN), servers, O/S, monitoring software, desktops, laptops, mail servers, and phone systems.

Establish and implement policies, procedures, and standards and ensure their conformance with information systems and company's objectives and policies.

Proactively plan for system growth. Work in partnership with the Marchex business units and Finance to provide systems capacity planning, and input regarding scalability of system functionality.

Manage systems and processes that support day-to-day operation of a 7x24x365 system.

Interface regularly and negotiate and manage contracts with equipment providers, Internet access providers, and other vendors to ensure lowest costs and best available quality.

Interact regularly with members of the Engineering, Product and Test organizations to establish environments for successful systems and tool development and testing.

Contribute to other strategic initiatives as necessary.

Required Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in MIS/CS or equivalent experience.

Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible information technology experience.

Understanding and experience hosting in the cloud via AWS or other solutions.

5+ years in a technology management role leading groups supporting large scale 24x7 online systems.

Excellent communication and negotiating skills.

Experience articulating and driving company-wide technology and organizational direction

Understanding of the key concepts in networking, systems management, software engineering, project management, and computer science fundamentals.

Experience recruiting, retaining, managing, and training individual contributors and managers in the technology field

Excellent project management skills
