About the Position:
The position of Operations Research Analyst ( Intern) is a position in the DCMA Keystone Program. DCMA uses the Expedited Hiring Authority to recruit and attract exceptional individuals into the Federal Workforce. The DCMA Keystone Intern program is generally a three-year developmental program.
Prior to appointment, all candidates will be required to sign a Keystone Conditions of Employment Agreement.
NOTE: During the Keystone Intern Program, participants will receive specialized formal classroom training, computer-based training, and on-the-job (OJT) training. The training program will consist of the following:
1. Report initially to CMO/Center for at least 2 weeks.
2. Travel TDY for four weeks to attend training at a DCMA Learning Center (DLC).
3. Spend 6 months in the CMO/Center for more OJT and developmental training.
4. Return possibly to the DLC for 1 week assessment/update training.
5. Return to the CMO/Center for more OJT and developmental training.
6. Return as necessary to the DLC throughout the 2nd year for additional training.

This is an acquisition position.
Completes classroom and on-the-job training to acquire, exercise, and maintain knowledge of the duties inherent in the performance of professional operational research analyst duties in support of a senior engineer who is responsible for two or more engineering functions, in connection with assigned products, processes or systems.
Provides technical assistance to the supervisor of record or other senior operational research analyst in progressively responsible assignments for defense systems and components during various phases of development, production and sustainment.
Evaluates and develops recommended solutions to complex technical problems.

Basic Education Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in operations research; OR
At least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
You may start at the GS-05 if you have the following qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree with a major study in operations research: OR a Bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics with at least 3 of the 24 semester hours in calculus.
You may start at the GS-07 if you have the following qualifications: One ( 1) full year of graduate level education with a major study in operations research; OR One(1) full year fo graduate level education with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter course requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics with at least 3 of the 24 semester hours in calculus OR Superior Academic Achievement; OR One (1) year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level. Specialized Experience is described as:
Analyzing management problems and providing advice and insight about the probable effects of alternate solutions to problems.
Applying knowledge of particular classes of problems and the ability to develop associated problem solving method.
Experience designing, developing and adapting mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other scientific methods and techniques.
Experience formulating problems, selecting the objectives, designing better objectives, designing better alternatives, collecting data, re-examining objectives, and identifying new alternatives.
Superior Academic Achievement is obtained through: (1) Class standing - being in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision based on completed courses; (2) Grade-point average - (a) having a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on the official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) having a grade point average of 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or, (3) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society.
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: To qualify for GS-1515 series on the basis of graduate education, the graduate education must be in one or a combination of the fields identified in (B) above is required.
