This position is part of the Operations Analysis department at FedEx’s corporate headquarters in Memphis. Operations Analysis, in collaboration with FedEx’s operating companies: provides evaluation and oversight to significant operations initiatives and strategic programs, including operations analysis, operations research and modeling / tool development, and program management; supports enterprise collaboration on the development and adoption of operations technology and systems; and researches significant developments in non-core transport industries and technologies.
Responsibilities for the Operations Research Principal include:
Develop and maintain strong internal customer relationships, including with FedEx operating companies’ Planning and Engineering functions
Facilitate collaboration, knowledge and tool sharing across FedEx’s operations research and planning functions to help increase the impact of operations research across FedEx
Providing coordination and guidance of modeling and operations research initiatives across operating units
Leads multiple modeling project developments through the project life cycle
Coordinates with Operating Companies to obtain required input data for the models and technical support
Stays abreast of the latest development in areas of Operations Research, Logistics, and Information Technology
Researches and identifies modeling opportunities to improve decision support for planning and operations management
Provides technical guidance for department in model development, priorities, and approaches

Bachelor's degree/equivalent in operations research, applied mathematics, statistics or related quantitative discipline. Directly related Master's degree preferred. Eight (8) years experience in operation research, business modeling, statistics, or related area. Demonstrated experience in leading major corporate initiatives. Working knowledge of operations research and mathematical and data modeling. Strong analytical, problem solving, presentation, project management, and software (Microsoft Office and web-based applications) skills. Strong human relations, organizational/time management and communication skills.
