Essential Functions

Work with other plant departments, Engineering, FOMG and contractors to coordinate projects

Operate, control, and monitor power generation, auxiliary, and balance of plant equipment and systems

Lead and guide shift crew to monitor all facets of plant operations and incoming data

Manage, evaluate, schedule and develop the O&M staff and ensure full staffing for assigned shift

Provide leadership and direction in response to alarms and abnormal conditions and lead emergency response actions

Participate in the development and compliance of operating policies ensuring compliance to all environmental and safety rules

Complete reports which document plant status, equipment operating data and operational events; and collect data on unplanned outages and make recommendations to minimize the probability of similar events

Serve as the real-time shift interface with the Commercial Group with respect to plant operations, outages, fuel, generation schedules and ISO coordination

Oversee work permitting and the issuance of Clearances

Perform Issuer and Verifier functions utilizing the approved Lock Out Tag Out systems to help ensure that safe systems are in place at all times

Cover for Production Manager in his absence

Acts as a team member with all employees of GDF SUEZ Energy staff

Complies with all GDF SUEZ Energy policies and procedures

Other Functions

Carries out other duties as assigned

R equirements In-depth knowledge of computerized DCS control systems, computerized operating data acquisition and historical data trending systems
Professional verbal and written communication skills

Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, GADS, NiSoft, CMMS, PI, and other computer based systems used at the plant
Updated knowledge of environmental and safety regulations
Proven ability to successful and manage time and prioritize, and the ability to make decisions with minimal supervision
Rotating 12 hour shifts, on-call and weekend hours
Ability to safely climb ladders, work in constricted spaces
Ability to lift and carry materials up to 70 pound
Respirator may be required
Ability to meet highest attendance requirements


Minimum of 6 years experience in power plant operations, with at least three years as a fully qualified Control Room Operator in a CCGT power generation plant
Previous experience managing, training and directing a staff
High School diploma, Trade School, Military Service or Technical School training
