Under the immediate supervision of the Operations Supervisor, Operations Specialists perform work in support of airfield airside and landside operations. Enforces airport rules and procedures to include FAA Part 139 and FAA, TSA and DOD security requirements to insure compliance with appropriate operations and security directives. Acts as duty airport manager on a shift basis during those periods when the primary airport staff is not on the airport.
Operates and monitors closed circuit TV system.
Monitors security alarm system, fire announciator panel and Energy Management System and responds to alarms as required in order to resume normal airport operations, safety and security.
Maintains Airport Access Control System to include issuing ID badges, auditing files and access media for correct information and updating and renewing access as necessary.
Monitors air and ground radio communications and responds as appropriate, also relays information concerning threatening weather conditions, runway closures and aircraft emergencies involving possible life threatening situations.
Maintains security logs, emergency phone alert lists, emergency checklists and SOPs.
Maintains technical information manuals associated with the Security and Operations Center.
When necessary, interacts with the FAA concerning airport operations and security.
Coordinates with the Army to publish NOTAMs and updates for the advisory system.
Responds to emergencies/situations in accordance with appropriate regulations and guidelines as necessary to resume normal airport operations, safety and security.
Insures compliance with Airport Rules and Regulations, FAA, TSA and DOD Security Programs, as well as City of Killeen Rules and Regulations.
Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.
Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Sixty college semester hours from an accredited college or university with major course work in aviation management or a related field preferred; and
Specialized knowledge equivalent to two years of college required or one year progressively responsible related experience required; or
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a valid Texas driver's license by date of hire. National Weather Observing Certification is preferred, but not required.
Must be able to pass a criminal history, fingerprint-based, record check to receive a security clearance before unrestricted access to airport secure areas can be approved.
An FAA issued pilot's license or equivalent military aviation experience is desirable.
Must be able to work any shift or hours assigned, including overtime, weekends and holidays, as required.

Various types of computer software and systems, adding machine, copy machine, FAX machine, typewriter, UNICOM radio, AWOS-III, telephone, motor vehicle and appropriate safety equipment as necessary.
