Examiner/Operational Risk Specialist:
This position will serve as the Examiner in Charge of Team Operations.
This position helps oversee ongoing supervisory efforts and is responsible for coordinating or leading team or system projects and responding to information requests related to the supervisory program for the assigned firm in direct support of the Central Point of Contact (CPC/Deputy CPC). This will include contributions to and/or likely direct management of consolidation and assisting in completing key supervisory products that align with System and internal expectations. These products could include the risk assessment program, annual roll up report(s), institutional overview, supervisory plan, and quarterly reports. Additionally, the incumbent may be responsible or assist in overseeing a risk and/or financial area and longer term may supervise one or more staff members. The individual will need to collaborate with other team members and with other external or system resources to accomplish assigned tasks and will be required to maintain effective relationships with senior management at the assigned firm to help facilitate completion of assigned tasks. The incumbent may lead or participate on examinations to maintain/strengthen their skills and increase their understanding of the firm. The incumbent will also maintain a strong focus on effective decision making and timely delivery of quality products.
Support the CPC/Deputy CPC to ensure appropriate supervision of the assigned institution by working with dedicated team members and other assigned resources
Maintains a reasonable understanding of the assigned firm, risk levels, and risk management processes
Understands material core risk exposures for the relevant firm and how these are measured and managed within the consolidated organization and assimilates information to provide cross-risk perspective
Demonstrates good judgment and well-reasoned decision making in situations that may involve complex issues, public scrutiny, market reactions, and potentially adversarial circumstances
Has sound project management skills and a solid supervisory background related to large and complex organizations/foreign banking organizations
Builds and sustains effective working relationships with senior management of the supervised firm, other bank supervisors, system risk specialists, and pertinent functional regulators
Coordinates supervisory activities with relevant constituents, including other regulators and institution management
Maintains sound technical/analytical skills to properly oversee the assigned projects, supervisory work, and/or analysis
Oversees the identification of any required rating changes and emerging issues related to the firm and the industry in assigned area(s) of responsibility
Effectively communicates issues (orally and in written form) to the firm, internal stakeholders, and where applicable external stakeholders at other regulatory agencies that are conclusion oriented, well-supported and consistent with regulatory standards and established best practices
May be required to evaluate management and influence their actions through effective negotiation and conflict resolution to achieve supervisory goals, including obtaining possible changes to operating policies or practices, while maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders
Act as initial point of contact for requests from various stakeholders, and in consultation with the CPC/Deputy CPC, organize resources
Ensure quality, accurate, and timely deliverable products that meet internal and System expectations for areas of responsibility
Maintains an understanding of industry trends, emerging issues, and peer risk management practices
Provides coaching and mentoring as needed and provides constructive feedback to the staff member when/if overseeing any assigned individual or when overseeing assignments
Assists with ensuring the timely updating of relevant supervisory databases (BOND, C-SCAPE, company database, etc)
Interacts with senior System staff involved in related workgroups and/or affinity groups
Participates in supervisory product vettings with senior System staff
Effectively balance multiple responsibilities and works well under pressure
Performs job responsibilities with minimal oversight
Commissioned examiner preferred.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time is required.
May be required to supervise one or more employees in the future.
