Operations Supervisors are the front line operating authority and are responsible for the day to day operations/activities in the warehouse. They provide supervision and direction to all operations and floor employees. They ensure that all operations schedules required by the customer are met 100% of the time.
Responsible for the day-to-day operations/activities in the warehouse.
Meet customer requirements; ensure productivity levels are reached in an effective and efficient manner and maintaining quality performance objectives. Follow and determine measures for efficiency, customer service and accuracy.
Provide supervision and direction to all operations and hourly employees. Plan daily assignments based on projected workload; set goals for individuals and team; communicate expectations; give directions; delegate where appropriate. Observe and document individual and team performance; give feedback; write and deliver performance evaluations.
Follow and enforce company policies and procedures (i.e., Human Resources, Safety, Quality & Environment). Ensure direct reports are aware of policies and procedures.
Responsible for administrative activities, development/monitoring of KPIs, and developing and implementing continuous improvement opportunities.
Provide on-site management (where necessary) and company representation to customer.
Create and implement cost savings thru LEAN initiatives.
Responsible for operational progress and customer/employee relations.
Responsible for staffing, training and administering discipline.
Ensure safe and healthy workplace and address compliance issues, implement and maintain safety and compliance procedures.
Complete daily reporting of operational/quality requirements.
Perform special projects as required by the Assistant General Manager.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management preferred; or an equivalent combination of education & work experience.
Two - five years supervisory experience in a warehouse, distribution or manufacturing environment.
Two - five years working in the Transportation industry
Specialist Knowledge & Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.
Exceptional problem solving, conflict resolution, decision making, planning, and organizational skills are all required.
