Under direct supervision, m aintains setups and operates machine tools to perform simple machining operations.


Perform operations of machines on parts that maintain prescribed tolerance levels

Select and maintain setups

Use jigs, fixtures, and tooling

Read and interpret blueprints or drawings necessary to complete job

Check work to ensure dimensions are within prescribed tolerances using measurement tools

Develop and maintain understanding of material condition, cutting speeds and feeds

Report discrepancies to Supervisor and make constructive suggestions to improve production efficiency and profitability

Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required.


Education & Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent preferred

Machine shop classes or experience preferred

Knowledge & Skills:

Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints and drawings

Ability to prioritize tasks and establish routines

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend manuals, work instructions and MSDS sheets common to a machining/production environment.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions.


The position requires working around production machinery and may be exposed to fumes from acetone, coolants, cleaning solvents, and oils. There will be high levels of noise from machines and power tool equipment.
