Position Summary: Assists Optometrist by performing the following duties. Essential Duties: Obtains and records patient's preliminary case history.

  • Prepares patient for vision examination.
  • Assists in testing for near and far acuity, depth perception, macula integrity, color perception, and visual field.
  • Instructs patient in care and use of glasses or contact lenses.
  • Maintains inventory of materials and cleans instruments.
  • Annual Contact Lens Supply Sales.
  • Oversees the patient flow and keeps Dr on schedule.
  • Job Requirements:

  • Education/Experience- High School diploma or equivalent; or one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Math Ability- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
  • Computer Skills- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word processing software and Officemate/Examwriter.
  • Strong customer service, sales and communication skills.
  • Experience with OCT, Optomap, HRT and Visual Fields testing desired.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • OfficeMate/Examwriter experience a plus
  • Knowledge of Vision Insurance Plans and calculating Patient cost.
