This position is located in Alachua, Florida (not on UF campus in Gainesville) at the Center of Excellence for Regenerative Health Biotechnology (Florida Biologix).
This is a temporary, OPS position. This incumbent performs environmental monitoring procedures in a cleanroom facility. In addition, the incumbent counts microbial colonies on agar plates, and records data from particle counters and report results. Run simple equipment and more complex equipment including pH meter, particle counters, and viable air samplers. Perform staining and use microscope. Shipping Agar plate samples to contract testing laboratories when needed. Perform laboratory and equipment cleaning and preventive maintenance, e.g., defrost and clean freezers. Incumbent must perform duties by exactly following written procedures and document work performed including equipment and material used. Immediately reports all accidental deviations from procedures and document same. Incumbent must change clothing and shoes and aseptically gown (hood, facemask, jump suit, booties, gloves and safety glasses) for entry into cleanroom. Also requires respirator use monthly or occasionally. Potential contact with human blood or other potentially infectious materials ( OPIM ).
Daily, Monday through Friday; 8:00 am to 5 pm
Mandatory overtime in evenings and on weekends and holidays, when needed. Must be flexible in regards to work schedule.
A high school diploma and a minimum of two years of work experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for required experience.
Health Assessment Required
One year work experience in a cGMP compliant QC laboratory including microbiological experience.
Ability to gown aseptically and stand for long periods of time.
Ability to read, write legibly and follow written and verbal instructions in English
Work with personnel computer and Outlook, Word and Access databases
Must be able to lift up to 10lbs.
