JOB DUTIES:
Operates and maintains RTS instrumentation and optics systems, including optical tracking mounts and visible, IR, and high-speed video cameras.
Performs and may oversee preventive and corrective maintenance on assigned equipment in accordance with applicable system technical orders and other appropriate technical documentation.
Performs and may oversee mechanical and electrical assembly, wiring, soldering repair, and checkout on a variety of electronic components subassemblies, assemblies, panels and chassis.
Operates required Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) in the maintenance and evaluation of assigned hardware; this includes, but is not limited to multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, distortion analyzers, network analyzers and power meters.
Participates in and provides training to advance skill level and knowledge base of subordinates and co-workers alike.
Completes and maintains logs, forms and records.
Performs other related duties as directed.
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: Required:
Proficient using standard electronic test equipment.
Capable of performing physical labor.
Willingness and physical ability to travel by boat, helicopter or aircraft to and work at remote sites with limited facilities.
Willingness and physical ability to climb towers to 60 feet.
MS Office Suite; PC literate and able to fill out reports.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desired:
Familiar with high speed video systems including timing and storage; video/CCTV systems, servo systems, and mini-computers.
Demonstrated skill in operation & maintenance of optical tracking mounts; telescopes; CCD, CMOS, and IR sensors; RAID.
EXPERIENCE (Years): Required:
4-5 years experience performing mechanical and electrical assembly, wiring, soldering repair, and checkout on a variety of electronic components subassemblies, assemblies, panels and chassis.
3 to 6 years of experience with field maintenance of data collection systems and tracking systems, including troubleshooting to component level.
Experience with large optical tracking mounts such as Photosonics, Brashear, Contraves.
Experience with CCD, CMOS, and IR sensors.
Desired: 4-5 years of experience with field maintenance of data collection systems and tracking systems, including troubleshooting to component level.
EDUCATION: Required:
Associate of Science degree in Electronics Technology or other technical field;
Or High School Diploma or equivalent along with training in electronics including directly related military training.
Desired: Certificate of completion in any Optics related technical program.
OTHER SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
You and authorized dependents, if any, traveling to Kwajalein are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to departure. You and your dependents must maintain a current passport during your stay on the island.
This position is Unaccompanied.
Must be able to relocate to the Marshall Islands.
