Perform Oracle Database administration for enterprise services provided by the Information Technology Service Department (ITSD). This position requires strong verbal and written communications, analytical skills, effective teaming and technical proficiency.
Work independently and within a team environment to administer the Oracle Database infrastructure, in support of software development organizations and business requirements. This involves, but is not limited to, operational support, troubleshooting, installation, patching/upgrading, cloning, execution of backup/recovery activities, security analysis, proactive monitoring, performance assessment, tuning and optimization of databases.
Collaborate with team members, software developers and managers to understand infrastructure requirements for projects and operational tasks. Develop and maintain documentation of installations, configurations, technical solutions and procedures related to the administration and m aintenance of databases.
B.S. in Information Technology related field or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator, with recent experience in versions 10g and 11g
Experience with RMAN, Enterprise Manager Grid Control or Cloud Control, and Solaris and/or Linux operating systems
Demonstrated ability to independently resolve complex problems using current job knowledge, research data, and external resources
Strong written and oral communication skills, which will be used to document analysis, transfer knowledge and give technical presentations
Self-motivated and able to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
Must have the ability to pass a background check
Environment or Special Conditions
Occasional evening and weekend support required, including participation in on-call rotation.
