Job Title: Oracle Database Administrator
Review database software packages and patches and deploy in Hosting environment.
Setup databases in hosting environment.
Setup database and process monitoring (with hosting provider as needed).
Setup database backup & restore capabilities (with hosting provider as needed).
Perform database maintenance on production systems (e.g. archiving, purging).
Perform database tuning on production systems. Provide database performance analysis and improvement recommendations.
Apply preventive maintenance measures.
Respond to security or other threats.
Resolve issues that require escalation for troubleshooting.
Review issue resolutions provided by others.
Assist others as needed to:
Review Savi products and deploy in Hosting environment as needed.
Review OS and 3rd party software packages and patches and deploy in Hosting environment.
Contribute to architecture and design of hosting solutions for proposal responses to RFP*s.
Provide input on RFP*s, Service Level Agreements and cost estimates.
Review and influence Savi product requirements, test plans.
Install systems in test labs environments.
Install systems in co-location environments with hosting provider.
Install systems in customer environments and participate in customer hosting acceptance.
Contribute to and follow processes, procedures and documentation.
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
Be available outside normal business hours on a scheduled basis.
This position requires the following combination of demonstrated experience, skills and abilities:
Three to Five years of relevant work experience.
BA/BS degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
3+ years experience in Oracle 10g database administration, including installation, configuration performance tuning, live backup/restore and maintenance using the Unix platform.
Experience using common software configuration management tools.
Strong analytical, design and problem solving skills.
Experienced installing internet application software deployment and IT support.
Knowledge of internet systems including web server, application server, networking and database technologies.
Experience with Unix, Windows, TCP/IP, Apache or IIS, WebLogic and Oracle.
Good communication skills. Ability to solve problems under pressure.
Strong awareness of technology trends and ability to identify those related to the current business objectives. Familiar with technology standards, typical benchmarking strategies and development.
Able to work extended hours under tight deadline to successfully meet objectives.
