The Virginia Department of State Police is seeking qualified applicants for a Senior Developer position in the Information Technology Division located at State Police Administrative Headquarters in Chesterfield County. In accordance with State Code, incumbents of this position must complete a Statement of Economic Interests form upon hire and annually thereafter. This is an Exempt position; therefore, it is excluded from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act due to the nature of the duties and job responsibilities.
DUTIES: Develops, tests and implements new functionality in the Law Enforcement Activity Management System (LEAMS) using Oracle Application Express ( APEX) and PL/SQL code. Maintains existing LEAMS, APEX, and PL/SQL code. Meets with analysts, domain experts, and users to document requirements and estimate levels of effort. Determines feasibility of system enhancements and automation. Provides technical expertise in the development and implementation of new or changing applications. Works with staff and end users to provide technical assistance in the identification and resolution of application issues. Stays abreast of new technologies and tools for software development, testing, implementation, and maintenance. Assists and provides direction to co-worker in using new techniques and in solving complex technical problems. Prepares application documentation such as use cases, software requirement specifications, interface documents, wireframes, object and entity relationship data (ERD) models. Assists in the preparation of user documentation, user training, and post-implementation evaluation. Performs administrative duties by completing necessary reports and documenting activities such as status schedules, problems, issues, and resolutions or recommendations.
