The Grant Park Orchestral Association in Chicago, Illinois seeks a full-time Orchestra and Chorus Personnel Assistant at the Grant Park Music Festival (GPMF) for the 2013 Season. This position reports to the General Manager.

KEY DUTIES
-- Prepare, maintain, distribute, track and collect music for all chorus rehearsals and performances
-- Maintain and update chorus databases; facilitate concert seating requests for musicians
-- Disseminate and collect chorus and orchestra member timesheets, parking passes, and other items as needed
-- Attend to and aid the Chorus Director and chorus members in the general operations of the chorus
-- Assist in the coordination of rehearsal and performance logistics

COMPENSATION/SCHEDULE
-- $9.00/hour; this position is non-exempt. Nights and weekends are required.
-- Position Start Date: May 20, 2013

THE ORGANIZATION
Each summer, the Grant Park Music Festival presents 10 weeks of concerts rich in both traditional classical fare and rarely heard orchestral and choral pieces, free to all of Chicago in Millennium Park’s exquisite Jay Pritzker Pavilion. Conceived in 1935 as a way to bolster Chicagoans during the Great Depression, GPMF now presents its classical music concert series to approximately 340,000 visitors annually. Another 1 million listeners enjoy the concerts via radio broadcast. The Grant Park Orchestral Association is governed by a 26-member Board of Directors and has a 2013 operating budget of $5.1 million.

Mandatory Job Qualifications MINIMUM CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
-- Three years or more of college-level education completed or two years of professional experience in related field
-- Thorough knowledge of classical music and ability to read choral and orchestral scores
-- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
-- Demonstrated communication skills; ability to handle challenging situations with grace, diplomacy and professionalism
-- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
-- Must be available mid-May through August

Desired Qualifications DESIRED CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
-- Previous experience as a music librarian and/or in the field of orchestra/chorus personnel administration
