DESCRIPTION

This position serves as the face-to-face contact with our customers. The Outside Sales Rep. is responsible for managing assigned accounts, which requires personal customer visits for the purpose of sales, customer service, and increased satisfaction. Accounts serviced represent our diverse customer base and include small, medium and large companies, bakeries, markets (all departments) and manufacturers. Overnight trips or long days may be required. Customer visits will primarily include locations in Eugene, the Oregon coast, and Southern and Central Oregon. Organization and creative thinking in regards to different sales tactics, account management, and developing price quotations is essential. The position requires effective communication between the Outside Sales Rep., the Inside Account Rep., the Territory Sales Manager and the Director of Sales and Marketing. Communication will be in the form of written and verbal reports, sales recaps, and phone conferences. The Outside Sales Rep. must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to retain and analyze information in order to effectively follow up on customer needs. The Rep. must be able to adapt to each customer's unique needs, personality type, and style and must also be flexible as this position's roles and responsibilities develop.

DUTIES

A.Outside Sales:
  • Understand customer needs and methods of conducting business
  • Contact customers according to prescribed frequency
  • Out on sales calls 2- 4 days per week, or as necessary
  • Conduct outside sales calls with Territory Sales Manager at least once monthly to get advice and input to help you achieve company goals.
  • Source new customers. Follow up as needed to secure initial order and regular orders thereafter
  • Establish specific goals for each sales call
  • Increase specific product distribution base with existing customers
  • Be aware of competitive conditions and situations and report immediately to supervisor
  • Meet or exceed sales and/or volume goals as determined by the Director of Sales and Marketing
  • Communication of market and crop information to customers
  • Qualify and communicate deliveries for new accounts based on logistical issues
  • Qualify all new leads and set appointments via telephone or email
  • Cold call on potential new accounts in person
  • Be available to take orders as needed and communicate to inside sales team
  • Successfully place new products into accounts
  • Notify supervisor immediately of any issues with any key accounts
  • Be available to help accounts with store resets or new store openings
  • Be able to schedule and work product demo's and cuttings
  • Complete quote sheets, special order agreements, etc. as needed
B.Inside Sales:
  • When appropriate contact customers via phone, e-mail, or fax
  • Telephone sales may also include follow up calls from previous contacts
  • Input customer sales orders into computer
C.Large Customers:
  • Converse with supervisor on how to proceed properly in these situations
  • Understand how contracts work and be able to secure them with customers
  • Communicate product forecasts/projections from customer to buyer and inside account representative
D.Brokers & Vendors:
  • Understand who our brokers are and what they each cover
  • Maintain a current Pacific Natural Sales (PNS) broker list of accounts
  • Communicate all follow up from mutual PNS accounts for all Aunt Patty's and GloryBee products to the appropriate PNS rep.
  • As needed work with the brokers to service customers, and review pricing, etc.
  • Be aware of who our vendors for products and be able to contact them when needed to research product information or product status
E.Administration:
  • Prioritize the needs of each route and prepare a customer schedule. Review schedules with supervisor as needed.
  • Provide a quarterly report consisting of territory updates and strategies for next quarter
  • Complete required documentation for vehicle use
  • Prepare for each sales trip to include samples, specs, quotes, customer information and P.O.S. materials
  • Perform routine customer analysis and review with supervisor
  • Manage a spreadsheet of new accounts brought on
  • Learn and understand who our competition is and how sell against them
  • Complete routine administrative work, which may include written correspondence, letters to customers, responding to in-house requests, expense reports, etc.
  • Review all S.O.Ps periodically to help keep them updated. Communicate to supervisor suggested changes to keep current
F.General:
  • Participate in weekly telephone sales update meeting as appropriate
  • Review the customer mailing list with Sales Assistant at each catalog print to make sure it is complete
  • Generate tracking reports on items and/or customers for the purpose of identifying potential or lost business
  • Attend appropriate meetings and training functions in Eugene. A minimal of two annual training trips to Eugene is required for satellite sales reps
  • Continue to increase GBF and industry product knowledge
  • Attend training seminars as provided by supervisor
  • Comply with ALL company and department policies, procedures and SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Handle customer complaints
  • Extraordinary duties might include such things as: helping customers with orders and running errands (post office, supplies, etc.)
  • Attend trade shows as needed.
  • Complete miscellaneous tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two to three years sales experience with a proven track record in account management
  • Bachelor's Degree in business related field preferred
  • Food industry experience preferred
  • Outgoing, self-motivated and determined
  • Confident, effective under pressure and results driven
  • Professional, personable, friendly and a team player
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage time well
  • Good memory, strong math skills (pricing experience preferred) and computer skills (experience creating and delivering PowerPoint presentations and able to type 40wpm)
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to a variety of situations and interruptions
  • A good driving record clear of any accidents or citations
Position Expectations and Foundation
