The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician performs all aspects of drug purchasing to include ordering, inventory control, carry out recall procedures, check in orders, return appropriate medication to the wholesaler/manufacturer, and rectifies discrepancy in shipping and in invoicing. Other duties include direct interaction with patients, all cashier functions and front counter coverage as assigned. Professional presentation of a friendly, customer-oriented approach is essential. Cashier functions include accepting prescriptions and obtaining proper information from patients.
Ringing in customer transactions, packaging and retrieving completed prescriptions, entering 3rd party insurance checks, mailing or couriering prescriptions to patient or health centers and performing daily cash up procedures as assigned. The Director of the Outpatient Pharmacy Services and the staff pharmacists will provide immediate supervision. Minimum Requirements: Minimum of one (1) year as pharmacy technician or other job experiences requiring similar skill mix. High School graduate or equivalent mandatory.
Proficiency in high school level math course work. Must be able to interact professionally with the public and employees as well as maintain a professional appearance. Previous responsibility in purchasing desired. Computer experience /literacy desired.
Previous experience as a cashier including performance of cash-up is beneficial. One (1) year as pharmacy technician or other job experience requiring similar skills.
