The qualified candidate will have six months experience in a related field and have basic computer skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills, a commitment to customer service and the ability to communicate effectively with all applicable customers and age groups is a must.
The Registration Clerk obtains demographic and insurance information to register patients in the star HBOC system. Obtains signatures on all necessary paperwork.
Specific requirements include:
A. Consistently interviews patients obtaining accurate or editing demographic information. Implements appropriate patient/customer assistance based on age specific.
B. Consistently interviews patients, obtaining demographic insurance information, copies of insurance cards, front and back. Enters notes in computer of any pertinent information requiring follow up. Implements appropriate patient/customer assistance based on age specific needs.
C. Completes appropriate forms with patient signature, consents, Medicare Questionnaire, Self Pay / Indigent Survey, Room Accommodation, Prior Stay, Advance Directive, according to payer source/patient type. Implements appropriate patient/customer assistance based on age specific.
D. Completes LMRP Review on all appropriate Medicare patients, printing summary, obtaining signature on waiver if required.
E. Verifies Medicare if copy of card not available.
F. Orders pre-op test within 5 days of patients scheduled surgery date.
G. Obtains Medicaid GBHC #,value codes, condition codes, occurrence codes. Implements appropriate patient/customer assistance based on age specific.
H. Identified third party insurance on Medicaid GBHC cards, filing insurance primary, Medicaid secondary, entering information into the Medifax computer obtaining correct address. Implements patient/customer assistance based on age specific.
I. Verifies Workman's Compensation obtaining insurance information, telephone numbers and contact person. Implements patient/customer assistance based on age specific.
J. Accurately registers patients according to all HBOC patient types, per physician orders.
K. Completes yearly competency skills checklist at the completion of training period, 6 month evaluation and yearly evaluation for designated job tasks.
L. Collects monies on patient accounts for co pay, deductibles, deposits, central supply purchases, and marriage license. Verifies cash drawer at end of shift, completing deposit report having evening shift sign off.
M. Registration cierk participates in performance improvement activity.
N. Obtains physician order with appropriate test, diagnosis and physician signature at time of registration.
O. Accurately enters physician orders into computer.
P. Participates in printing Anesthesia facesheets/copies of insurance cards, filing in appropriate tray.
Q. Obtains faxes from fax machine, filing physician orders in appropriate filing drawer.
R. Completes telephone pre-registration, obtaining correct demographic, insurance information, editing incorrect information. Implements appropriate patient/customer assistance based on age specific.
