Volunteers of America of Greater Los Angeles is a large, national not-for-profit organization founded in 1896. We provide a variety of social services to the Los Angeles area communities such as Head Start programs, Upward Bound college prep programs, veterans' services, homeless shelters, low-income housing programs as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
The San Julian Access Center provides immediate needs including beds, showers, laundry, storage, medical evaluation, use of phone and the Internet. We offer job training and placement, advocacy and referrals, and daily therapy groups. We serve 300 daily and 100 every night. Learn more at www.voala.org.
The Outreach Worker provides client outreach, manages and secures the facility for all residents. The responsibilities are summarized as:
Provides onsite outreach, including operating and managing site services (showers, baggage, etc.).
Maintains security by periodically walking throughout the facility and making reports reports as necessary.
Performs periodic maintenance and janitorial duties.
Provides crisis intervention if needed.
1 - 2 years experience working in field of homelessness or other social support services
Valid California driver's license, insurance and reliable transportation preferred
Effective written and oral communications skills
High School diploma or GED
Ability to maintain confidentiality, apply program guidelines, follow procedures
Ability to lift up to 50lbs
