This position will be responsible for building & supporting new customer relationships, increasing sales of Hydrodynamics products and providing retailer training & support within the territory.
Generate and develop new distribution partners in order to sell products to end users. Expand existing customer within the distribution channel by building relationships with potential customers through outside business-to-business sales, networking/reference referrals, cold calling, account management, presentations, closing deals and post-sale follow-up.
Call on prospective distributors, providing technical and administrative product information and/or demonstrations, and quotes appropriate customer prices. Prepare quotes, contracts for potential resellers. Maintains all quote documentation with accurate pricing and configurations. Maintain all sales demonstration tools and applications.
Create awareness and demand for the company products and services. Identify potential reseller needs and interests and effectively communicate benefits and opportunities available to meet needs and interests. Analyze reseller capacity throughout the country to pinpoint activities to match sales efforts.
Maintain a reliable communications mechanism with internal personnel to ensure efforts are in line with objectives.
Assist National Sales Director in developing new business ideas and accompanying marketing materials to achieve sales objectives.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge base of entire product line. Attend industry and product related training programs, conferences, seminars and educational forums. Work closely with inside sales consultants to assure customer satisfaction and business accountability.
Any other responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
Bachelors’ Degree in Business preferred with a minimum of one year of B2B outside sales experience involving some travel. Track record of success meeting sales targets or quotes in previous sales roles.
Experience in manufacturer direct, wholesale, or business to business sales.
Ability to quickly learn and master Hydrodynamics product lines along with product applications. Willingness to dedicate time & energy necessary to become fluent with fertilizers, additives and hydroponic gardening accessories. Horticultural, gardening, greenhouse or other experience related to use & application of Hydroponic gardening fertilizers and equipment is preferred but not required.
Must have strong customer support orientation (for internal/external customers), demonstrated professional demeanor, and the ability to maintain confidential information. Must have strong skills in organization and planning, demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and problem solving.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Driver’s License and clean driving record required. Ability to travel a minimum of 60% of the time (Expense allowance available) and be located in our home office in Lansing, Michigan approximately 40% of the time.
