The Overhead Electric Distribution infrastructure Engineer will be primarily responsible for the engineering and project management of overhead electric distribution infrastructure jobs in Montana.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS · All NorthWestern Energy employees are required to adhere to company safety standards
· Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy’s values, mission, and strategic business objectives
· Will require supervisory skills and will oversee Contract and Company construction crews and supervise projects
· Ensure project compliance and oversight of auditable guidelines, policies, practices, organization standards and federal and state government regulations relating to design solutions (NESC and NEC)
· Design electric and/or natural gas facilities, performing computer related functions such as engineering analysis, drawing, spreadsheets, and database compilations and programming
· Primary responsibilities include Overhead Distribution pole replacement engineering and project management, but may also involve underground electric cable replacement and gas distribution upgrades as required by the Infrastructure Project.
· Compile and write technical reports
· Coordinates construction activities with local division managers to optimize internal and external crew use and scheduling.
· Respond to customers' needs by performing field investigations
· Survey and inspect routes
· Responsible to take effective steps to ensure that cost estimates meet company standards and pricing costs
· Assist in budget presentation
· Each engineer is on the division call schedule. This is a 24-hour a day duty, periodically, for one week at a time. The call responsibility includes response to emergency situations and calling personnel out for after hour activities and require the individual reside in the greater metro area.
· Job time is spent in office and field environment with exposure to all field hazards and weather
· Occasional lifting of materials up to 70 pounds required
· Some travel and extended hours will be required
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS · Must be able to demonstrate a good safety record
· Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills
· Must have a BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
· A Professional Engineer’s License is preferred
· Excellent communications and computer skills and good to excellent technical writing skills required
· Experience with SAP, line design and LDPro desired
· Have the ability to handle multiple conflicting tasks or projects and challenging situations
· Must be organized and have the ability to work well with others
· Knowledge of International Fuel Gas Code, NESC, NEC, and the DOT preferred.
· This position requires a general understanding of survey and inspection techniques and microprocessor-based equipment
· A valid Montana driver's license or the ability to get one is required with a clean driving record
