POSITION PURPOSE: Assist the Director of Patient Access with the overall functions of the PFS department to include inpatient, ED registration, outpatient surgery, scanning, pre-registration, central scheduling, and outpatient therapy.

Reviews issues related to medical necessity, ANSB, upfront collections, account audits, patient check in, and timely and accurate processing of patient registration including the completion of all necessary forms and documentation. Interfaces with ancillary departments to ensure the patients are scheduled, registered in a timely and accurate manner and secures requested documentation including orders as necessary. Compiles scorecard data as assigned and ensures that processes are in place to achieve a high level of performance for each assigned corporate initiative. Acts as registration(OP) representative, as needed, in order to expedite registrations during busy times. Designate an associate during ER weekend/graveyard shift to provide coverage as needed. Works closely with medical staff and their office staffs in order to address account issues. Assists with staff orientation, work scheduling, PDO, training and overall competency. Monitors and ensures key daily items designated to associates are completed in a timely manner and disciplines in accordance with HR rules. Attends required meetings, as related to job, at Director’s discretion.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : Directly supervises 25 to 35 employees in the following departments: Emergency Department Admissions, Pre-Registration, Scheduling, Admissions, Customer Service, Financial Counselors and Central Scheduling. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, scheduling and evaluation of these units and their employees. Is responsible for having systems in place that support effective collection efforts by obtaining accurate information necessary to bill and collect patient accounts, obtaining appropriate authorizations and making acceptable financial arrangements in accordance to policies.

Education & Experience – Associate's degree (A. A.) from an accredited School and six months to one year related experience and/or training or five years’ experience in lieu of degree.
