Responsible for overseeing Payroll Processors and the overall Payroll Processing function. The key focus is to ensure timely, accurate processing of all on and off cycle payrolls for both Canadian and US employees, as well as all year-end processing and year-end tax forms (W-2’s, T-4’s & RL-1’s). This position is also responsible for scheduling, training and developing staff to help create good morale and maximize productivity and accuracy.
Supervises hourly processing staff, including but not limited to assigning workloads, special projects and goals for the staff; provides first level escalation assistance and ensures that all documented processes and controls are maintained.
Trains and develops staff to ensure timely and accurate completion of all payrolls.
Assesses department needs. Organizes workload and schedules to accommodate field requirements. Reassigns duties and workloads based on individual skills and capabilities of the staff.
Identifies recurring processing issues and makes recommendations for process improvements.
Responsible for HR duties including:
• Recruitment, selection, training, and development of department employees
• Prepares/delivers performance evaluations and compensation recommendations
Associate’s degree required or comparable work experience. Bachelor’s degree is a plus, preferably in the area of finance or accounting.
3-5 years of supervisory experience in a high paced, high volume processing environment.
