Anoka County Information Technology - PC Technical Services has an immediate opening for a PC Specialist who will install and support workstations, applications and peripherals, assist in the support of users, and troubleshoot and resolve problems for the assigned areas of support responsibility.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY):
Provides administration for assigned workstations, applications and peripherals; entry level file and application server administration may be required; maintains inventory control for assigned areas hardware and software; responds with assistance to mission critical hardware and software functions; provides routine maintenance on assigned hardware and software; installs LAN-based and stand-alone PC software and hardware in conformance with county and division standards while ensuring proper connectivity solutions for required accesses; assists with researching and selecting applicable hardware and software to meet the objectives of assigned areas automation plan; participates in the training of users in the use of networks, PCs, peripherals and related software; works with assigned team to provide assigned areas technical expertise and act as the main contact for outside providers and sources; takes direction and participates as a team member in project management within assigned division/departments.
Post-secondary education/training in computer science, or related LAN training; one year experience with personal computers; Microsoft administration, ZenWorks administration and Windows Desktop training or experience desirable; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an automobile available for business use.
Must successfully complete BCA and drivers license check.
Basic Knowledge of and Experience in: Repairing and upgrading personal computers such as installing disk drives and memory; installing PC application software including word processing software, spreadsheets and databases.
Ability to: Resolve microcomputer hardware and software problems; communicate technical issues with all staff and levels of management.
