Reports to Technical Support Manager. Responsible for the installation, maintenance and support of Intel processor based computers running the Windows operating system in a Local Area Network Environment. Also responsible for the installation, maintenance and support of other networked peripherals as well as stand alone computing equipment. Monitors, responds to and documents Help Desk calls, provides coverage for Help Desk services, advises computer users on correct usage of hardware and software, performs other technology related functions as necessary. Also responsible for monitoring, problem isolation, and repair of equipment connected to corporate network including workstations, servers, printers and fax machines. Installs and configures PC operating systems including, Windows XP and Windows 7 running Microsoft Office 2003/2007. Works with user areas to analyze user needs and provide suitable solutions as the needs deal with PCs, network connectivity, PC hardware configuration, PC software and other related activities. Provide remote support to telecommuters working in Citrix and VPN environment.
Bachelors Degree in an IS or related field in combination with one year working experience the installation and support of Windows based workstations in a networked environment; Associates Degree in an IS or related field combined with two years of work experience dealing with the installation and support of Windows based workstations in a networked environment or five years of work experience dealing with the installation and support of Windows based workstations in a networked environment. A+ and/or Network + certification may each be substituted for one year of experience.
Demonstrated ability to accurately diagnose and correct PC software configuration problems and hardware problem diagnosis and to install related network or PC equipment. Familiarity with support of media and mobile equipment is a plus.
Good interpersonal skills necessary to interact promptly and courteously with customer base.
Familiarity and ability to utilize at least two of the following PC software tools: word processor (Word preferred), spreadsheet (Excel preferred), email (MS Outlook preferred), data base product (MS/Access or SQL compliant product preferred), calendar product (MS Outlook preferred).
Demonstrated ability to establish and meet work schedules within limited time frames and under tight deadlines and a willingness to work off hours as needed in support of changes to the LAN. Must be willing to work non-regular shifts and job requires overtime for scheduled installations.
