General Overview

The PCWD Training and Education Specialist (TES) designs and delivers training and educational programming related to Partners Career and Workforce Development (PCWD) pipeline programs for community residents, incumbent workers and youth. Primary responsibility will be to provide classroom instruction for participants in the Partners Career and Workforce Development (PCWD) program, a community pipeline initiative preparing community residents for entrance into frontline healthcare positions within Partners HealthCare. The TES will also design programming related to health career exploration and advancement for incumbent workers and youth. He/she will also support other Partners Workforce Development pipeline activities and virtual learning initiatives. This positions reports to the Director of Partners in Career and Workforce Development Job Training Program and to the Partners Workforce Development Manager.

Responsibilities

Partners in Career and Workforce Development (PCWD) Program (70%)

*
Develop partnerships with community-based organizations, community health centers, and Partners resources staff

*
Participate in the assessment and selection process for program participants

*
Manage on-boarding for program participants

*
Design job readiness curriculum for adult learners - including resume writing, interviewing skills, customer service and workplace etiquette

*
Provide classroom instruction and support

*
Deliver workshops and facilitate trainings on various topics

*
Evaluate participant performance, assess progress and provide comprehensive feedback

*
Coach candidates on interview and general employment preparedness

*
Interface with recruiters and hiring managers to promote career advancement for program participants

*
Collaborate with PCWD and Workforce Development to re-design the PCWD program and implement program changes

*
Incorporate and manage any and all changes to program from cycle to cycle as needed

Workforce Development Pipeline Programs and Activities (30%)

*
Develop technology-enabled curriculum content and peer learning opportunities related to college readiness and career advancement

*
Utilize knowledge of distance learning, adult learning theory and social networking technologies to support virtual learning initiatives

*
Design and deliver a Seminar Series for Health Career Starters to include topics such as goal setting, career exploration, skill development and educational planning, financial literacy and other foundational skills.

Research and explore innovative models and best practices

*
Represent PHS Workforces Development and promote the virtual learning platform at Partners’ entities

*
Participate in design, implementation and evaluation of new Workforce Development initiatives/projects to promote attainment of PHS Workforce Development’s organizational goals

Qualifications

*
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred or commensurate business experience

*
Experience in curriculum design and instruction for low-skilled adult learners

*
Experience with adult learning theory, distance learning and social networking technologies

*
Human Resources and/or community program experience strongly preferred

*
Familiarity with health care organizations and careers desirable

Working Environment
