The Community Peer shall provide community consumer support by helping community agencies develop and/or enhance the support network for members. This will include primarily being available to these agencies to; do presentations and promote recovery and resilience. The Peer will assist the agency staff by sharing information related to engaging their membership, promoting active participation in the treatment process; providing training on negotiating the system and other topics of interest to consumers. The Peer will coordinate meetings within the community agencies for their membership with the goal of teaching self-advocacy skills. Additionally, the Peer will serve as a resource for information sharing regarding available resources designed to help support diversion from emergency rooms, providing updates to clinical staff related to available area services or other natural supports; provide training to general health providers on consumer perpectives; conduct focus groups, serve on geographical teams; and outreach to the community and family organizations through out the state. This position will assist the Community Peer Program supporting recovery and resiliency goals, team strategies and contract deliverables are implemented and achieved at the Service Center.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or High School equivalency diploma required, Associates degree preferred.
Relevant Work Experience: 2-3 years Experience serving as an advocate to families or individuals within the addiction services and/or behavioral health service delivery system . Knowledge of community outreach and education preferred. Bilingual preferred
