DESCRIPTION

The Personal Assistant Direct Support Professional aids in the implementation of instructional plans, care and activities for persons served in assigned areas, to meet established goals and objectives, and ensure compliance with state, agency and CARF standards, policies and procedures.

M-F 8:30-3:00 (there are options for full time)

DUTIES

The Employee must be able to carry out all aspects of Direct Support including:

1. Provide for the personal care needs of adults enrolled in services;

2. Provide coverage for adults enrolled in services as assigned

3. Perform necessary housekeeping duties as assigned

4. Provide coverage and assistance persons served during lunch

5. Assist in the implementation of instructional, industrial and training activities in all relevant service areas (including Behavior Support Plans)

6. Intervene in crisis situations and complete the necessary documentation

7. Assist in the maintenance of necessary day service, operational and financial records and reports for persons served

8. Administer medications to persons served

9. Attend and actively participate in all in-services and agency meetings, as required

10. Demonstrate teamwork with staff and clients served in the agency (including other departments)

11. Maintain acceptable work standards in all areas including attendance and punctuality

12. Ensure compliance with all agency policy and procedures

In addition to the Specific Responsibilities outlined above, General Responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

The General Responsibilities of this position may include the ability to communicate and interact with the public, co-workers, other departments, supervisors, suppliers, consultants, clients and client family members.

2. Physical Tasks

1) The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

2) Without assistance, employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

3) While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to climb ladders/stairs, walk, crawl, sit, stand, stoop, bend, squat, push, pull, have full physical dexterity and agility, and eye/hand coordination.

3.General Tasks and Skills
1) This position requires the ability to operate a vehicle, and small equipment.

2) Employee must have the ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules and operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

3) Employee must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

4) Employee must have the ability to calculate and count, add, subtract, multiply, divide and work with fractions, decimals and percentages.

5) Employee must have the ability to comprehend, retain and follow oral and written instructions, exercise good judgment, set priorities, concentrate and focus on sensitive materials or items, listen, analyze, problem solve and make decisions.

6) Employee must be able to negotiate, self-direct, work without supervision, function in high stress situations, provide instruction/training, direct, inspect and organize.

7) The Personal Assistance Direct Support Professional shall assume other responsibilities as requested by the Day Habilitation Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each of the Specific and General Responsibilities satisfactorily. Additionally, the requirements listed below are representative of the education and/or experience required to perform this job:

1. Required Licenses, Certificates, Degrees and/or experience

1) Must possess a valid Driver's License, with a driving record acceptable to Opportunity Enterprises, Inc. insurance carrier.

2) Must have high school diploma/GED.

2. Continuing Requirements
1) Must keep all certificates, licenses, and registrations current.
2) Must complete 24 hours of in-service.
