LOCATION OF POSITION
A current vacancy exists at the Maryland Correctional Pre Release Systems in Jessup, Maryland (Anne Arundel County).
Main Purpose of Job
The employee would conduct work involving the operation, implementation and monitoring of the personnel system in Maryland State government. The Employee will perform a variety of tasks covering a broad range of general personnel activities involving the application and explanation of principles and practices of the personnel system in the State of Maryland. Employee will be required to supervise, train and guide lower-level paraprofessional and clerical employees. To provide Administrative and Clerical support for employees at the Maryland Correctional Pre Release Systems. To take instruction from and act for the Warden and Personnel Officer/Administrator I under minimum supervision.
MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years of general clerical or administrative support experience at least one year of which must have been paraprofessional personnel experience involving the application of public sector procedures, policies, rules and regulations to specific employment actions. Appropriate paraprofessional personnel experience should have included responsibility for activities such as, preparing and maintaining employment records, calculating salaries, applying and interpreting rules and policies, preparing personnel-related reports, counseling employees regarding benefits and obligations, and responding to inquiries concerning employment actions.
Note: One additional year of paraprofessional personnel experience as defined above may be substituted for one year of general clerical or administrative support experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be admitted to the exmination for this classificaiton. It is essential that you give complete and accurate information on your application. Successful candidates will be placed on the employment eligible list categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED, or QUALIFIED. The list will be valid for at least one year and may be extended. The list will be used by the hiring agency to select employees.
The examination may consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position. The rating may be based on your application. BARGAINING UNIT STATUS
This position is assigned to a bargaining unit. As a condition of employment, members of a bargaining unit are required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
