The PGS Regional Buyer will be responsible for performing sourcing / purchasing duties in support of Power Generation Services.

Essential Responsibilities
In addition, in this role you will:
  • Engage in outage planning with Service Managers and participate in region meetings when required
  • Develop and maintain BOM and BOS by technology
  • Maintain tracking of outage status in FSP and present weekly readiness of outage status
  • Prepare outage requirements at least 1 month prior to outage
  • Identify site specific buys and manage the supply base for the assigned areas
  • Identify alternate supplier and owning supplier add process
  • Be responsible to monitor purchase order (PO) leakage to non-preferred suppliers and violations of GE Energy’s No PO no Pay policy
  • Procure 100% of POs buy in assigned areas and provide detail inn PO for savings baselines
  • Drive 95% on-time delivery for all external purchase order for all external purchase orders. This will include monitoring supplier promise dates, expediting orders to meet emergent requirements
  • Buyer will provide timely update on PO delivery, expediting status and changes to open orders
  • Collaborate with supplier to meet promise date and resolve process issue impending on time delivery
  • Identifying new suppliers, obtaining quotes through competitive bidding, place purchase orders
  • Ensure timeliness of receiving acknowledgement
  • Drive resolution of AP issue with Receiver
  • Negotiate and justify changes in Terms of payment
  • Be responsive to all internal customers
  • Reporting of weekly spend
  • Drive 5% deflation on year over year purchases and assigned projects by negotiating price, delivery and payment terms on significant purchases. Formal documentation of cost savings
  • Establish hard saving baselines’ Budget, catalogs, YOY
  • Support development of contract when sufficient volume exists
  • Partner with Sourcing Quality to drive improvements
  • Be responsible for ensuring that purchases meet our Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements as well as all other regulatory and compliance requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University (or a High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Sourcing, Purchasing or Operations working for an industrial or power generation parts manufacturer or repair facility)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Sourcing, Purchasing or Operations working for an industrial or power generation parts manufacturer or repair facility ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% of time, as required
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individual for employment visas, now or in the future

    Desired Characteristics
  • Oracle purchasing system, Microsoft office experience including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated program and/or project management skills
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be effective in a cross-functional team environment
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills in resolving Accounts Payable issues
  • Experience in creating and implementing process improvements
  • Minimum of 3 years of industry experience
  • Minimum of 2 years buyer experience
  • Experience with Lean / Six Sigma (GE Employees only)
  • Ability to read technical drawings and be able to quote based on the basic understanding of the drawings and specification
  • Excellent communication skills; must have excellent written and verbal English language skills including reading
  • Flexibility; ability to develop strategic plans and perform purchasing transactional tasks at the same time
  • Highly motivated, self-directed and resourceful
  • Experience with Material Planning
  • Project management experience
