ASHP Accredited PGY1 Residency program "matches" prospective candidates and programs annually in March.

The PGY1 Resident is a licensed pharmacist who participates in advanced clinical learning experiences, pharmacy practice, leadership and pharmacy management learning experiences as well as elective learning experiences, research and teaching experiences in a 12 month program. The Resident assists in recruiting for the program at annual events such as ASHP midyear or area college of pharmacy events. The Resident is expected to obtain ACLS and respond to codes. The Resident participates in PI data collection and analysis, medication safety tracers and assigned medication use evaluations. The Resident attends hospitalist rounds, antimicrobial stewardship team rounds, departmental meetings, IRB, Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Mercedes, Pharmacy Managers team and other committees and teams as assigned.

The PGY1 Resident receives an annual stipend for the program, paid in 2 week increments as payroll.
