The Physical Therapy Assistant for both Inpatient and Outpatient will assist the physical therapist in execution of treatment programs for persons with neuromotor dysfunction. The Physical Therapist Assistant will participate in intra-disciplinary and interdisciplinary training programs for affiliating assistant students, staff, and community agencies; and physical therapy aides; and maintain appropriate patient records.
1. Facilitation of developmental, functional, mobility activities. 2. Training related to independent function in the wheelchair. 3. Execute programs to maintain and/or increase range of motion. . 4. Maintain written documentation, including patient reports and attendance records, according to procedures of department, Institute, and Maryland PT guidelines. 5. Effectively functions within an interdisciplinary team. 6. Supervise Physical Therapy Aide(s) and volunteers, as assigned. Perform other non-patient specific duties, which may include coordinating weekend staffing schedule, in accordance with patient census, confirming work schedules, etc. 7. Participate in intra-disciplinary and interdisciplinary activities. 8. Functions according to Department and Institute policies and procedures. 9. Assist in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies. 10. Participate in planning and execution of programs for personal professional growth and development. 11. Any other duties/responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. Qualifications: Previous experience in pediatrics and/or rehabilitation and treatment preferred but not required. Eligible for license to practice as a physical therapist assistant in the State of Maryland.
