As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by: Coordinating the collection of project data Performing necessary project research Devising new approaches to problems encountered Coordinates various technical aspects of work Planning and conducting work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria Independently planning, scheduling, conducting, or coordinating detailed phases of work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope Establishing and defining project objectives Managing tasks on large projects or managing phases of small projects Assuming a certain degree of project management responsibility Assisting in the development of planning strategy and recommendations Providing planning expertise when requested to project teams Supervising the work of a few engineers/ scientists/ planners, technicians, draftsmen, or others who are assisting on assigned work, while other positions may perform purely a technical role Preparing new business proposals and attending interviews Continuing to develop marketing skills Preparing associated project correspondence with developing external client interaction Initiating and performing assigned project administration duties (monitoring budget and schedule, preparing correspondence, and participating in general office duties) Acting as a mentor for lower-level employees
Master's degree in transportation planning or engineering required.
3 - 5 years previous planning experience.
A.I.C.P. Certification, Certification in a related field, and/or Master's degree in a related field (where Certification is not applicable) is desired.
•Experience with traffic and toll revenue studies
•Experience with travel demand models using software tools such as Cube/voyager, TP+, and TransCad;
•Experience with conducting and analyzing travel characteristics for the planned transportation facilities, including travel surveys, traffic counts, and travel time and delay studies;
•Experience with micro-simulation models such as VISSIM
•Experience with analyzing and interpreting results of transportation models, geographic and statistical analysis using VBA, MS Access, GIS and SPSS;
•Experience with tracking, researching and analyzing local, regional, and national socio-economic and macro-economic parameters and forecasts;
•Experience conducting risk assessment and risk analysis using Monte Carlo Simulation
•Good writing and communication skills, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
