We
currently have an opening for a PLC Software Controls Engineer who possess the
ability to work in a unified team, has good verbal and written skills, is a
people-person, excels at multitasking, is organized, self-motivated and works
well under pressure.
Primary
responsibilities include understanding commonly used drafting symbols found on
industrial electrical control panel wiring and construction drawings. Must have
some experience and understanding of commonly used industrial machinery;
knowledge of reciprocating/screw compressors utilizing industrial (gas and
diesel) engines and/or industrial electric motors is desirable. Must be able to read functional layout/wiring
diagrams and comprehend a control panel theory of operations while writing PLC
programs. Familiar with at least one of the following manufacturers’ hardware
product lines and associated proprietary programming software: Allen-Bradley,
Siemens, GE-Fanuc, or Modicon. Working Knowledge of ISaGRAF, CoDeSys
(IEC-1131-3) or ANSI-C is desirable, but not required. Proficient with the application of commonly
used industrial communications protocols (Ethernet, Modbus) and their
implementation through various media (physical layer). Read/understand
customer/end-user specifications and apply them using best practices of control
panel design. Familiar with industrial
standards (NEC, IEC, ISA, UL, CSA, API, ANSI) and their association with
hazardous location terms and controls practices. Test and emulate control panel
software/hardware via full functional simulation using meters, lights,
switches, etc. Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) in the presence of the
customers, including a full functional demonstration and oration of the control
panel’s features and capabilities per a theory of operation.
Educational
Requirements: Bachelor’s
degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical Engineering Technology or related
technical vocational training with extended experience of 5 years or more.
Experience
Requirements: 2 years
minimum industrial experience maintaining and programming PLC controlled
machinery.
