The primary responsibility of the POS clerk is the accuracy of price scanning in the store. It is of the utmost importance that the scanned prices charged to our guests match the prices shown on the shelf tags and signs. This is important, not only for guest satisfaction and efficiency reasons, but it also important to pass the price scanning internal audits and inspections conducted by the Texas Department of Agriculture.
When a guest enters my area or department, my first and most important responsibility becomes to acknowledge, greet, and engage that guest.
Responsible for receiving, verifying, and hanging shelf tags and signs at store level. The responsibility includes seeing that all tags and signs are posted to the proper shelf, that the UPC on the tag matches the product.
Perform the placing of signs and tags on shelves for changes, as advertised, and temporary reduction items in accordance with established procedures.
Work together with department managers to eliminate and minimize missing shelf tags daily.
Responsible for shelf sign and shelf tag maintenance in the store.
After activating all files, check in their store’s CT2020 for errors. These errors must be taken care of in the proper way to ensure no problems in the future.
Performs other duties as requested or required by management.
Minimum one year background in retail operations, specific knowledge of departments, items stocked, checking experience and guest relation skills.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and punctuality.
Ability to accept supervisory coaching related to performance, work habits and attitude.
Must be self motivated.
Ability to work in efficient and controlled manner.
Must be able to achieve a 1% or less scan error rate required by United Supermarkets.
Ability to perform 10-key and computer operations.
Ability to read and understand store application procedure manuals and implement the direction in performance of daily duties.
Strong interpersonal skills for developing positive and efficient working relationships with partners, guests, and team members.
Responsible for sufficient back up training.
Be able to perform all physical aspects of the position, such as bending, standing, squatting, climbing, pulling, pushing and walking.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to function as a team member and get along with others.
