Westmoreland County Community College


Westmoreland County Community College (WCCC) invites applications and nominations for President. Located in beautiful Western Pennsylvania and with an 80-acre main campus, seven satellite campuses throughout the region, a robust online presence and the intention of continued expansion, WCCC is a comprehensive community college serving approximately 6,600 students. The continuation of the regional expansion of the College into four Western Pennsylvania counties, an area that is preparing for major economic growth in the gas industry, is particularly important to the College's future. The College is actively preparing to educate students in a variety of relevant occupations and a new facility is being developed to meet these occupational needs.

The WCCC Board of Trustees seeks a new President who has had successful experience in community colleges. S/he she will have a clear understanding of the mission of community colleges and will be an outstanding advocate for students, employees and the community, working with elected officials (local, state, and federal), potential donors and business and industry leaders. The President will demonstrate accountability and consistently require accountability from all employees, and will continue our focus on improving student success and updating technology in both academic and administrative areas.

The next President of WCCC will have exceptional interpersonal, listening and communication skills and will demonstrate: successful administration of operational and capital budgets and effective strategic planning that reflects future budget needs; the ability to inspire others to do their best and support professional and personnel development for all employees; successful experience working with a Board of Trustees, College Foundation and diverse citizens, employees and students; experience with student completion and retention issues; successful experience in oversight of major capital projects and successful revenue development from the business and corporate community, private individuals and local and state government; vision and the ability to relate to day-to-day operations; ability to be actively involved in off-campus sites, connect these sites with the main campus and administer consistent policies and procedures. An earned doctorate is preferred as is experience as a president of a community college. Senior administrative experience, including as a head of a branch campus will also be considered.
