Under the supervision of Occupational and Physical Therapists, provides age appropriate activities for patients 0-21 years of structured routine patient care in groups and one on one. Provides wound care, pressure garment measurement, medical sculpture items, transportation and individual and group care as directed and supervised by therapists. Assists with inventory and ordering of departmental supplies. Participates in departmental and hospital performance improvement teams as assigned. Requires travel to domestic and international outreach programs and obtainment of passport. Meets educational requirements of hospital and department.
High school diploma or GED.
Completion of American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider Program required within 30 days of employment.
Training and Experience
6-12 months relevant experience strongly recommended in a rehabilitation or other medically applicable setting.
Skills and Knowledge
Effective communication and organizational skills. Strong multi-tasking and creative thinking skills. Ability to build rapport with children and families of diverse cultures, self motivator. Fosters positive and professional interpersonal relationships with patients/families, hospital staff, and community representatives. Knowledge of basic computer functions. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
