Basic Accountability Statement

With limited guidance, this position is responsible for the execution of product strategies and objectives across multiple business units. Assessment of market segments and providing recommendation for product strategies related to pricing, positioning, and promotions as well as analyzing product life cycles, distribution channels, revenue, and profitability is required. This position will also lead efforts to develop and launch product line extensions and enhancements.

Will also be responsible for identifying and executing new product development initiatives by initiating research and analysis, leading product ideation sessions, leading mid to major development projects, and taking ownership of the product development process function. Provides field support efforts aligned with individual product strategies. Will have lead responsibilities to provide support to product management teams. At this level, the position displays leadership, independence, persuasiveness, tact, and management qualities to accomplish its annualized goal and objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy: Makes product strategy recommendations to management and executes implementation of product strategies and objectives across multiple business units. Completes research on potential business partners and prepares reports with information on financial position, competitive position, and partnership opportunities. Reports on the strengths and weaknesses of potential partners and assesses the risk for entering a business venture. Makes recommendations to senior management on business opportunities.
  • Product Performance: Provides a comprehensive assessment of assigned product (s) related to revenue, profitability, pricing, product life cycle, distribution channels, positioning, and promotion strategy and make recommendations to the Director, Product Management.
  • Product Research: Produces thorough competitive analysis, materials on competitors and market trends. Plans, initiates, and provides direction for industry and product research. Independently, or with others, present and leads discussions with customers to probe need and understand trends. Through a variety of methodologies and/or perspectives, evaluates research results and recommends options to explore in new product development to management.
  • Data Evaluation: Identifies data sources (internal and external) that can add value to the product family. Defines data evaluation criteria and metrics. Coordinates data analysis with external vendors and internal business units. Evaluates the results of the analysis and recommends options for management.
  • Product specifications: Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to capture detailed business requirements. Works with business analysts on functional specifications. Review and provides feedback/recommendations on the solution design.
  • Product planning and implementation: Leads product development cross-functional team meetings beginning with concept initiation through product delivery. Establishes and manages the overall timeline for small and mid-size development efforts while participating on large development efforts. Facilitates the transition of completed development projects to internal groups such as Consulting and Support. Recommends improvements to processes and measures based on experiences as necessary.
  • Product Launch: Manages projects associated with the development and product launch activities related to product line extensions and enhancements consistent with product portfolio strategies. Develops product launch plan and sales tools including internal and external training materials, presentations, features and benefits. Works with Account management to ensure product is effectively launched. Keeps management up to date on ROI. Will use multiple communications formats for keeping project team and the business unit up to date on development efforts if needed.
  • Product Support: Provides high level Field support aligned with individual product strategies. Gives guidance to less experienced product managers on handling complex issues. Conducts presentations on the product development process and projects, representing the business unit at sales meetings, customer meetings, or cross-organizational internal meetings. May support the business unit processes, with responsibility for completing all tasks associated with the product development process, including documenting product concepts, leading compliance reviews, maintaining the concept database, stage-gate methodology, etc. Recommends improvements to processes and measures based on experiences.
  • Influence and manage cross-functional projects and work closely with other business units as well as external contacts. This position also serves as a mentor to less tenured ones and as a guide to others outside of the department. The self-directed nature of this position requires proactive identification and scheduling of related work tasks. Completes ad-hoc assignments that assist in development and implementation of strategies and new processes.
  • Oversee business process at a high level to identify areas for improvement. Develop an in-depth understanding of processes and technology, enabling a cross-functional perspective on product/process opportunities.

    A Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in marketing or an equivalent field.

    A Master’s degree with a business related focus or equivalent business experience is preferred

    A minimum of 7 years of experience related to product management and marketing. 5 or more years in Fraud and Identity Management with an in-depth understanding of solutions/products currently in the market.

    Must have experience writing detailed business requirements. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Hands on experience analyzing big data sets preferred. Hands on experience with application development preferred.

    Proven communication and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple project/products simultaneously are required. Independence, initiative, and business acumen are necessary for success. Prior experience in business information services is preferred.Must be able to work independently and in team settings. Must have proven experience as a lead on various initiatives.
