The Transportation & Public Works Storm water Management Division is seeking to hire a Professional Engineer to fill an overage position who will review proposed private development projects for compliance with City of Fort Worth drainage design standards. The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of hydraulic and hydrologic engineering principles and practices with an ability to apply these to proposed projects to ensure that new development does not increase the risk of flooding to adjacent properties or roads. Abilities to work effectively with developers and their consultants to arrive at mutually acceptable drainage solutions and to meet review timeline service standards are central to the responsibilities of this position.
Skills / Requirements
The following education and/or experience are the minimum standards which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position: Bachelors Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering or a related field PLUS four (4) years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience. Two (2) years of water resources/drainage planning experience required. Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills required. Strong interpersonal skills, management skills and excellent communications skills required. Preference may be given to candidates with additional education, certification and experience as it relates to the position. Supervisory experience is required. Prefer candidates to have Budget knowledge and experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must possess registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas; If licensed in another state, continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer, within the State of Texas, within six (6) months of employment. Possession of a valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record is required.
Preference may be given for additional education, knowledge, experience and/or certification as it relates to the position.
MISC. REQUIREMENTS: WORKING CONDITIONS
Field and office environment; exposure to computer screens and inclement weather conditions when conducting site inspections. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time; operating assigned equipment.
