UW Educational Outreach (UWEO), the continuing education branch of the University of Washington, has been building bridges between the UW and communities across the globe since 1912. UWEO provides broad access to and expands the high-quality educational programs of UW by serving the needs of diverse, global communities of learners through innovative, self-sustaining programs. Known for providing its excellent UW Professional & Continuing Education certificate programs and fee-based degree programs, UWEO also provides other gateways to the University including UW in the High School , UW International Educational Outreach , The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the UW , UW Summer Quarter , multiple on-line learning offerings , conference services and more.

UW Educational Outreach has an outstanding opportunity for a Program Administrator.

The Program Administrator (PA) for the Science, Engineering, Technology and Health Science content group manages a portfolio of programs within the areas of Health Sciences and Engineering.

The Program Administrator must be knowledgeable on a wide range of UW Educational Outreach (UWEO) and UW policies and procedures governing programs, instructors, and students. This position must be effective in working across operational teams within UWEO, with academic and other support units at the University, with instructors and with prospective and enrolled students. In addition, the PA is responsible for many key processes and complex administrative and database management tasks that are central to the success of these self-sustaining programs.

The PA must productively engage and collaborate with leading professionals, campus partners, professional associations and UWEO marketing to raise awareness and ensure we meet the needs of the adult learning community we are serving. They will author clear, compelling and effective web and catalogue content. They must meet deadlines for getting program marketing content developed and updated. They will be responsible for promoting and recruiting through advisory boards, holding information meetings, setting up on-line information meetings and participating in appropriate trade show/association events to raise awareness and drive enrollments. The PA will also work directly with leading organizations within the community to secure education course renewals and enrollment expansions.

The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work in a professional manner both as a self-starter and as a team member.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
INSTRUCTOR AND COURSE MANAGEMENT - Prepares instructors for their courses, providing information on system access, processes and procedures. Familiarize instructors with course expectations and responsibilities. Ensure course planning and execution result in positive student experiences.

PROGRAM LIAISON AND COMMUNICATION - Establish and maintain strong communication channels with all stakeholder groups, campus partners and internal support teams to proactively plan and resolve operational issues.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND PROGRAM PROMOTION - Performs market research, event planning and coordination of Advisory Boards, Information Sessions and other community and marketing opportunities with the public and private companies in the community.

FACILITATIVE PROGRAM LEADERSHIP - Make key decisions on program formats, enhance program through leadership skills, spearheading change and seeking opportunities to update and improve the operational processes and procedures with programs and courses.

FISCAL ADMINISTRATION – May involve some budget preparation and program set up in the Educational Outreach System (EOS) in conjunction with Fiscal Services. The PA functionally supervises some activities of UW staff instructors and non-UW staff instructors hired on contract to teach in program courses. The position does not have full administrative (hire/fire/evaluate) supervision of these instructors.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in health sciences, technology, engineering, liberal arts or related field.

At least two years of increasingly responsible administrative experience with continuing education program management.

The candidate should have a strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and basic proficiency in the use of Internet technologies and database systems.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Proficiency in setting up basic web sites, authoring course content and making public presentations.

Working knowledge of basic accounting and budgeting principles.

Skills and experience in writing, editing, and proofing.

Will require infrequent lifting of up to 20 pounds.

Ability to efficiently and effectively travel locally to alternate work site with program materials if needed.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Familiarity with administrative policies and procedures in a university environment, or specifically the University of Washington.

A record of cultivating a strong team environment for achieving the goals of the organization within a customer service environment.

Experience with Access or other database systems.

Condition of Employment:
A satisfactory outcome from a criminal background verification may be required prior to hire.
