POSITION SUMMARY: The Program Counselor assists patients and families in meeting their bio-psycho-social needs by means of support services and therapeutic techniques. These will include but will not be limited to assessment, consultation, teaching, support services for patients and families, crisis intervention, group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, interdisciplinary treatment planning, and discharge planning. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: * Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, or clinically related behavioral health field - required Experience: *At least one (1) year experience in behavioral health with expertise in individual, family and group therapies, and crisis intervention. Must have strong family therapy skills. Certificate/Licensure: * State licensure preferred (LCSW, LPC, LMFT or licensed psychologist). * BLS (American Heart Assoc.) successfully completed within 30 days of hire. * Food handlers card within 30 days of hire Skills - required: * Able to relate to pediatric obese patients, bilingual patients, emotionally distressed patients and families. * Able to read, write and speak English in an understandable manner. * Possess visual and hearing acuity, and/or the ability to assess, document and implement actions required to meet patient/family needs. * Able to deal with high stress and high demand work environment. * Able to cope with varying and unpredictable situations tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, and the general public. * Able to respond to emergency and crisis situations in a timely and professional manner.
