Program Manager II

IRIS International, Inc. is a leader in in-vitro diagnostic urinalysis systems, digital imaging software development, sample collection, sample processing and small benchtop centrifuges and supplies for chemistry, coagulation, cytology, hematology, and urinalysis for the clinical and veterinary markets. Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the facilitation and leadership of cross-functional project teams responsible for delivering projects of moderate complexity in line with established corporate objectives..

Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Program Management and functional department heads, responsible for managing and reporting the status of moderate complexity new projects, including project initiation documents, schedules, resources, quality, and costs. Projects can be intra and inter organizational in scope. Contributes to the fulfillment of project and organizational objectives.

Follows the established Product Development Policy (PDP) and prepares materials/presentations for Phase Reviews. Uses professional concepts and company policies and procedures to solve a variety of problems associated with the PDP process.

Interacts closely with the various department representatives including senior level managers, partners and alliances to define the project parameters and detailed documentation outlining the project including Business Requirements, Marketing Requirements Document, Product Specifications, Project Plans, and Schedule.

Interfaces with senior discipline managers to negotiate the availability and skill sets of the resources needed to meet the project plan.

Alerts the Vice President of Program Management and functional department heads of any significant deviation in project scope, timing, and cost. Makes recommendations to mitigate deviations.

Interfaces with all areas affected by the project, including end user, services organizations, vendors and implementations partners.

Steps up to conflicts, seeing them as opportunities. Can negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups. Can settle disputes equitably.

Manages all levels of employees equitably. Builds constructive and effective relationships. Develops trust within a team environment.

Assures proper conduct, documentation, and communications of assigned project activities.

Confidently produces and delivers presentations.

Act as liaison between all functional groups.


2 to 4 years of experience in program management, preferably with a Medical Device or Biotech manufacturer.

Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering project and business results.

Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

Able to manage moderate size projects with only general direction.

Strong leadership and relationship management skills in a matrix organization structure.

Specific Skills/Knowledge:
MS Office Tools (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Visio)

Clear understanding of new product development procedures/stages.

Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize work, multi-task across many assignments with minimal direction.

Technical writing skills producing clear and unambiguous deliverables.

BA/BS degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering or Life Sciences Required.
