The position requires at least a Bachelor's Degree and at least two years of prior-related work experience. The position requires at least a High School diploma or GED equivalent if substituting experience for education.
Substitution of Experience for Education Permitted (Non-faculty only)
This position provides academic support to students enrolled in HCC math courses, develops and creates workshops for enhancing student learning, and assists peer tutors as needed.
Prefer applicants with: (1) experience tutoring mathematics in individual and group settings, (2) the ability to configure computers to run the various software used in HCC math classes (MathXL, MyMathLab, WebAassign, etc.), (3) Microsoft Office skills (especially in Word and Excel), (4) professional tutor certification from the National Tutoring Association or other national certifying agency, and (5) the ability to tutor all math courses offered at HCC, including statistics.
Supplemental Job Information
This position will be in the Academic Success Center on the Ybor City Campus but might require occasional travel to other HCC locations. This position will be scheduled to work 20-28 hours per week. Shift will be either (1) mornings through early afternoon or (2) early afternoon through evening. Evening and weekend hours may be required. The person(s) selected for this position, if not already certified as a tutor, will be required to obtain professional certification within one year from the beginning of employment.
