The Client Service Representative is responsible for the registration process, which includes: outpatients, inpatients, observations, surgeries, and the emergency room. The CSR is responsible for obtaining and verifying the patient's appropriate demographic/insurance information and entering the information correctly into the hospitals computer system. The CSR is responsible for explaining the patient's financial responsibility and collecting patient liabilities for services rendered. The CSR is also responsible for obtaining appropriate signatures/dates on all required forms and assisting the patient through the entire process until all information is complete. In Insurance Verification the Client Service Representative is responsible for verifying and pre-registering patients for scheduled procedures, which includes: outpatients, inpatients, observations, and surgeries. The CSR is responsible for obtaining benefit/patient liability information and documenting this information correctly into the hospital computer system. The CSR is also responsible for pre-registering patients for scheduled procedures and entering the correct demographic/insurance information into the hospital computer system to include contacting patients, physician's offices, and insurance companies to obtain this information. At the completion of these processes the patient and/or responsible party will have a full understanding of all of their expectations and those of LAMC. The position requires HSD/GED; must have minimal experience in a healthcare environment. The CSR will excel in social skills as well as good organizational skills and general clerical skills to include typing and filing. The incumbent must have good communication skills, both verbal and written. The incumbent must be able to problem solve correctly. The position requires strong customer service, public relations skills, and the ability to work well under pressure. Work environment requires extensive sitting (5 - 6 hours) daily and extensive data entry. Other Qualifications: The optimal CSR will have previous experience working in a hospital environment or a physician's office with the previously mentioned skills and medical terminology experience. Technical skills: Knowledge of the Windows environment with demonstrated ability to access and use information in a meaningful way.
