Position performs legal and clerical work for the probate and juvenile court under the direction of the Register in Probate/Juvenile Clerk pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes and performs responsible administrative work coordinating the St. Croix County Juvenile Treatment Court Program under the direction of the Circuit Court Judges. This employee assists with daily case management of circuit court records in the Register in Probate office and coordinates and monitors the St. Croix County Juvenile Treatment Court Program. This position demands an excellent understanding of the general workings of the law and the judicial system in these areas as well as excellent public relations skills. This person must have excellent people skills as this position is the bridge between the St. Croix County Juvenile Treatment Court Team and children and parents who are involved in the St. Croix County Juvenile Treatment Court Program. This employee is expected to perform routine tasks with little or no supervision.

This position is PT 19 hours per week with a flexible schedule. Not eligible for benefits.

Examples of Duties:
Assist with daily case management of court files, including creating and maintaining computer records, and complying with the statutes under the supervision of the Register in Probate/Clerk of Juvenile Court.
Coordinating and monitoring the juvenile treatment court program.
Maintaining juvenile treatment court records including the Juvenile Treatment Court manual.
Develops links with community and agencies to provide incentives for youth as well as community service opportunities.
Has weekly contact with children and parents who are involved in the Juvenile Treatment Court Program and if necessary, coordinates outside services.
Prepares Juvenile Treatment Court reports based on information supplied by supervision workers and treatment providers.
Facilitates weekly meetings of the Juvenile Treatment Court Program.
Provides information and assistance to the general public, attorneys and others regarding procedures and requirements;

Operate financial software including the receipting of payments, docketing of fees and void receipts;
Performs the duties and responsibilities in the absence of the Register in Probate/Clerk of Juvenile Court or Deputy Register in Probate as authorized in WI Statutes 851.72, 851.73, and 48.04.
Drafts orders; administers oath as required by statute; prepares certification of documents, draft capias, serve as notary public.
Clerks proceedings for all case types filed in the probate office; prepares minutes; collecting and marking exhibits; documents proceedings on computer; schedules hearings.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications:
Associates Degree in legal assistant or a related field with three years experience in the legal field. Experience with programs for specialty courts, knowledge of AODA and mental health treatment, and experience working with children and their families highly preferred. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
