Logistics Project Leader will be responsible for analysis and utilization of continuous improvement tools to design Supply Chain Solutions for current and future operations. Provides coaching/mentorship to other engineers. Provides regular and proactive communications to customers and Ryder Management.
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Management, or Industrial Engineering or eight (8) years of equivalent experience.
A minimum of four (4) years of related experience is required.
Advanced Level Skills in MS Excel such as working with formulas, data tables, pivot Charts, queries, custom functions, data management and analysis.
Advanced Level Skills in MS Word such as keyboard short cuts, creating macros, merge, merge queries, templates, table techniques, and working with images and text.
Intermediate level skills with MS Access such as using queries to display related information from two or more tables, construct selection criteria to extract specific records from tables and queries, and creating and utilizing pivot tables and charts based on query information.
Support supplier compliance, packaging re-engineering and standard pack optimization initiatives. These services will support inbound shipments for production facilities. Returnable racks, returnable totes, expendable packaging, and standard packs are all within scope. The objective will be to reduce the freight cost on material with packaging that either does not adhere to packaging standards or is otherwise inefficient. The work will be done in close collaboration with the customer’s Manufacturing Engineering department.
Identify non-compliant supplier packaging, based on the packaging guidelines that has transportation savings opportunity using current supplier packaging, route costing and load audits. Truckload, Intermodal, Milkrun, LTL and Consolidation modes are in scope.
The Packaging Engineer will work in partnership with the Manufacturing Engineering group to determine the prioritization of the non-conforming suppliers. Ryder Engineers to provide cost savings opportunity on a part level basis to enhance prioritization.
The Ryder Engineer will calculate transportation savings opportunity by completing Cost Analysis, Loop size calculations of returnables and standard pack comparisons. Manufacturing Engineering will be called upon for any additional information that is not readily available, such as but not limited to, re-engineering costs of existing returnables, piece price negotiations, loop size validation, capital investment costs and other outside conditions.
